Hold Hostility

Place yourself in the soles of another.
Remember,
What could have happened
To prompt such a cold gesture.
Whatever it may be...
It is not enough to justify
An ill response in return.
Why shatter the foundation,
Of what was once certain.
When the pain they recede
Has nothing at all to do with you.
Yes,
Even if the rhetoric referenced your progress,
How do you diffuse a circumstance before it goes too far?
Before you are left with the remains
Of a trust gone sour.
Devoured by the truth,
Of how hostility got the best of you.
