Tone and Time

She is so pissed
She is convinced
After every word spoken
Blood will spew
Upon each breathe,
A heavy heaving
When the existence of hope
Is currently locked inside a cage
Guarded by flesh and demons

Oh such a loud tone
Dear maiden,
Have you taken
Yet another circumstance
Manipulated to your liking
Swelling
Your
Own
Suffering

Can anyone decipher
The cry that is disguised
A s  s i l e n c e
None
Will pause
Because
They cannot stop
Why should they?

You proclaim
Yourself as separate
Now we are disconnected
Reverted
Momentarily

Such a soft tone now
Dear maiden,
Have you depleted your own spirit?
In the name of love?
Rise again
Fall alone
For the day still commences
Amidst infinite heartache
The night still takes
Without needing to be replenished

The dark
Home to death
Cannot be feared any longer
Resurrection becomes
A rite of passage

Only in solace
Reminded
Of the recollection
Attempting to swallow us whole

Regain composure
Redeem with compassion
Revisit closure
Return to community

Such a monotone now
Dear maiden,
Are you still becoming?
Time is your most boundless construct

Agree To Never Deny

What happens after she no longer believes him
What happens when
They stop believing in her

Scattered messages lay dormant
Before ever picked up or noticed

The urgent messages simply dissolve back into earth
Back from where they came

The eager discoverers
Always seem to be
A little too late

What has changed?
She still stays
He still remains
Both awaiting to be renewed
But both are once again
Facing opposing directions
The commitment to self
Weighs a heavy bargain over thy head

What more can be done to reunite?
Distinguish unnecessary fights
Doubting the eradication of lies
Growing accusations
As tall as the sky

Come back down
And still
Never deny the urge to soar

Mercy is extinguished by exhaustion
And no one may find her
While not just anyone may find him

W A R

What is betrayal?
But an unwanted word
What is denial?
But an irrevocable truth
Heart to root
Digging another ruin

To sustain
Is to drain
All sorrow back to the river

Time spends
Merely to cleanse self

Pauses to watch the retreat of vengeance

A word can be a war
Said against its very own meaning

Dusty Blue

Dusty dirty denim A hymn Mild and soft When a thrifty trip makes her whole again Linen dreams are swirling beneath Caverns unforeseen I make a trip back to Mcnay To remember a familiar self She is now gone Replaced by another pending question A corridor of naked illusions Will bestow curiosity for good Will trade anything for matter These days It is all empty without even having to ask The void is here Alive and swelled Yet Unworthy question, I cannot find you The blue jay boldly builds a nest Before a gaze At the start of day And she is reminded by holy omens She is seen and sane

Migration Dreams

Over one hundred days They say it has been Since 45 proudly declared Separating migrating families At the U.S. Mexican Border "What twisted redemption lies here?" [Chorus] The lies keep piling And now Like a broken promise They begin to fester "Didn't you know?" [Chorus] Power left unattended goes sour Left in the wake of a financial test "Left to fight for the same resources" [Chorus] So coldness has a familiar face The apocalypse may sooner arrive "For those who welcome a quick ending" [Chorus] But we are only breaking To make way for higher understanding "We will be seen through and through" [Chorus] The world ends without you It ended when they took us from you When they cursed at you and called you filth "The world ended" [Chorus] When they said you weren't worthy of the investment Not worthy of process "The world ended" [Chorus] When they anticipated your death before your salvation "When they tear gassed your freedom" [Chorus] Before a question "Before anticipation of the ruin" [Chorus] But questioning will continue "For the sake of advancement" [Chorus] For all the gripped silence Meant to keep secrets sealed away "Feel the never ending pulse" [Chorus] Of every heart you sent to an early grave "Feel the delay" [Chorus] Of how each and every time we were made to look away "Out of powerlessness" [Chorus] Take back your power "Take back power" [Chorus] We are the healing we so long anticipated Only together can we "Take back power" [Chorus] In the wake of this terrorizing hour "Take back power" [Chorus] With love and forgiveness that does not forget With alliances far nobler than one could ever dream of "We are the sun" [Chorus] Like the forsaken dawn Who answers to no one
